Our story
Launderette was created with intention from day one. Before we ever opened our doors, we wanted to build something we were genuinely excited by, something we would be proud to use ourselves. We spent time paying attention to what makes certain spaces feel welcoming, thoughtful, and worth returning to. That combination helped shape the physical space and service model that became our business today.
From the start, we wanted to create more than just a storefront. We wanted to build a brand the Williamsburg community could trust and feel connected to. This community values both convenience and experience, with a real sense of neighborhood pride that you can feel every day. We wanted to add to that energy while pushing the boundaries of what this category could look and feel like.
We're proud to be here, and deeply grateful for the people who have supported us along the way. Meeting our customers, hearing your feedback, and continuing to evolve around your needs is what drives us every day.

Three principles that shape every decision we make — from the machines we chose to the way we greet every person who walks through our door.
Genuine care
Every load matters. We use eco-friendly, non-toxic detergents, handle your clothes with real attention, and treat every customer like a neighbor — because most of you are.
Built for community
Launderette wasn't designed to be a pit stop. It was designed to be a place. We host clothing drives, support local causes, and show up for the neighborhood that showed up for us.
Better by design
From our high-efficiency machines to our sustainable practices, we made choices better for your clothes, the environment, and New York. 840,000 gallons of water saved — and counting.
The people behind it
Built by founders who
care.

Co-Founder & CEO
Ben leads business development, financials, commercial growth, and day-to-day operations. He's the one thinking three moves ahead while keeping the machines running.

Ireland McCaughey
Co-Founder & COO
Ireland leads operations, B2B client relationships, public relations, and brand partnerships. She sets the tone for how Launderette shows up — in the space and in the world.
A family effort from the start. Ben and Ireland built Launderette from lease signing to opening day, and every operational decision since. But none of it happens without Ben's mom, Lisa. She believed in us before we had anything to show — and invested in us to make it real. That kind of trust doesn't come around twice. We think about it every single day.

From the beginning, we didn't want this to feel transactional. We wanted it to feel like a place you'd actually choose to spend time in. That meant being very intentional about the layout and the overall flow of the store, down to small details like ensuring each seat has access to its own power outlet.
